#God’s Dwelling Place

(from #Streams of Living Water for a Thirsty Soul)

“For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.”  Isaiah 57:15

Isn’t it wonderful that our God—the high and Holy God who dwells in the high and holy place (Heaven)—is also willing, and even wants, to dwell with mere humans?  There seems to be a condition, however, for God to dwell with us, and the condition is that we have a contrite and humble spirit.

Our pride in thinking we can work out our own problems can lead us into the wilderness. But sooner or later we experience contriteness and humility. We come to realize we can’t change our situation nor the people in it. There is nothing we can do. We finally see we are totally dependent on God. When we get to that place and recognize we can’t change anything, including ourselves and our feelings, God can work in us.  He says His dwelling place is with us in our contriteness and humbleness and He will revive our spirits and our hearts. Let’s take hope in that promise.

PRAYER: God, I give this situation and myself to You. There’s nothing I can do. Please revive my heart and spirit.
