#Disappointments

(from Streams of Living Water for a Thirsty Soul)

“…perfect through sufferings.” Hebrews 2:10

Disappointments! Disappointments!                                                                   Sometimes ut seens as though life is nothing but disappointments, one after the other. We work through each one, and for awhile we’re free of the effects of our disappointment. Then along comes another, and all the past disappointments come back to hound us too. Too many disappointments can send us into the emotional wilderness.

Why is life so full of disappointments? We don’t know. But God can use our disappointments to perfect us. Hebrews 2:10 tells us that even Jesus was made perfect through suffering. He went through disappointments, sorrow, and grief too. He was despised and rejected ( Isaiah 53:3).

Perhaps we feel that no one understands our disappointments. The Psalmist felt that way when he said, “Reproach hath broken my heart; and I am full of heaviness: and I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none” (Psalm 69:20).

If no one else understands our disappointments, we know that Jesus does. We can go to Him and tell Him how we’re feeling and seek His comfort and strength  in our disappointments.

Prayer: Thank You, Jesus, that You’re there for me when no one else understands. I need your comfort and strength.
