#The Way

(from Streams of Living Water for a Thirsty Soul)

“And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.” Isaiah 30:21

When we’re in the emotional wilderness, we sometimes feel as though God doesn’t care about us anymore. We become discouraged because it seems that God isn’t guiding us as He did before we entered the wilderness.

But our God is a gracious, loving God. He doesn’t show us the way to salvation and then let us on our own to find our way from that time forth. Rather, He promises His leading and guiding every step of the way. He says in Isaiah 30:21 that if we get off the path, He will tell us the way again. It’s so reassuring to know that God will help us find our way. It’s also reassuring that He is guiding us continually (Isaiah 58:11) and that He will be our guide forever (Psalm 48:14). With promises such as these, we can go through life without fear of straying from God’s way and we can live with the joy that His guidance is always available.

PRAYER: O God, thank You that I can depend on Your guidance and for the reassurance this knowledge gives me.
